With a Harvard Business School education and 20 years of department store experience, my wife, Gerry and I, Tom, opened a furniture store in 1968. The name LOVE expresses THE WAY we think life should be lived: Love your neighbor as you love yourself.

It took 1 year from the day we decided to go into the furniture business for the store to open. Even though we were building across the street from a furniture store, our land was not zoned for selling furniture. To get zoning approval took from Mar. 1 until Sept. 1967.

When Mar. 1 arrived, over a million lbs. of gravel covered up the mud in our parking lot. During our grand opening, several cars had to be pulled out of the mud. No one got mad at us. Today, my children Bill, Robin and Julie run the store. The parking lot was paved long ago and after 40 years we are still here to serve you!

Our attitude is: We want to sell everyone who comes into our store, but we don't have to sell them. We believe that selling furniture is solving the customers' decorating and design problems. When we do this, we solve our problem of making a living.
