TOURNAMENT UPDATE

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND FUN!

Fun. That’s the idea behind the Circle City Classic. Many smaller communities must play younger kids on older teams in order to field an age group. Many larger communities must field B, C, and even D teams in order to provide playing opportunity for everyone. Many in-house programs and recreational leagues would like to expose their players to the tournament experience without the fear that every game will be a lopsided blowout. The Circle City Classic is designed to be a fun event to serve the needs of such teams.

The 2002 Circle City Classic is the 4th Annual event presented by the Tallmadge United Soccer Club, an organization which itself fields teams like those described above. The tournament is the main fund-raiser for the non-profit TUSC, a growing USYSA affiliate providing soccer education throughout the Circle City area. TUSC is a non-profit member of the Greater Akron Amateur Soccer Association and an affiliate of Ohio Youth Soccer Association—North.

THE CIRCLE CITY CLASSIC IS UNIQUE

The Circle City Classic is a traditional youth soccer tournament open to all age groups, both boys and girls. And, to make it truly unique, we have invited only teams from recreational leagues, rec-plus leagues, in-house programs and lower level travel leagues. We have designed special formats for younger age groups, and a seeding system to make sure everyone, on every team, has fun.

USYSA/OHIO NORTH SANCTIONED

The Circle City Classic is approved by Ohio-North (USYSA) and is open to all teams affiliated with the USSF which meet the level of play standards. Teams from inside Ohio North do not need travel permits. Recreational teams may need to register with Ohio North as tournament teams. Please consult the tournament director. USYSA teams from outside Ohio North must have approved permission to travel from their state association and bring player passes and notarized emergency medical forms. Other USSF-affiliated teams are welcome to participate, but must bring proof of insurance from AYSO, SAY or their USSF-affiliated organization.

LEVELS OF PLAY

If there are sufficient entries in any age group, the tournament will offer both gold and silver levels of play. The tournament will schedule a division for any age group in which there are at least 3 entries. In order for there to be two levels of play, at least 10 entries must be received in the age group. If there are two levels of play, the gold level will be for "competitive teams" (club teams) , while the silver will be for recreational teams. Pickup teams and tournament teams will be evaluated based on information supplied by the entrant and by the organizers prior knowledge of the participants. Guest players are permitted, but the organizers have the right to evaluate guest players based on the team they are coming from and limit the number of players who might be multiple-rostered on higher level teams.

AWARDS

There will be 1st and 2nd place awards for every player in each division, as well as awards for the clubs and coaches.
