I just graduated this past June from the local community college as valedictorian majoring in transfer studies. I am planning to apply to UCLA in Fall '09 to begin Fall '10 to finish with a BA and MA in history so I can teach. Right now, I am taking extra history classes to boost my history prerequisites. I finished homeschooling both my sons from K-12 with the last one graduating high school in 2006. Both sons are finished with college and I started in August 2007. I am beginning to work with the historical society documenting veterans' stories to mail to the Library of Congress. We are interviewing veterans so there will be information available for research. I am very active in my church working with youth in the AWANA program. This year marks my thirteenth year as a registered leader, but I have worked many more as a parent. I have helped with Vacation Bible School at our church over the years, although not this year as I'm in school this summer. When my sons were younger, I helped in the Boy Scouts of America in a capacity fitting for a mom. While there, I helped them and others attain the rank of Eagle Scout and helped with many Eagle projects. I have a wonderful ministry with the other students on campus. There are so many hurting kids who are reaping the consequences of bad choices or those of their parents. Many just want an adult to talk with who they're not attached to. I seem to be there for them. There is not a day that goes by that I'm not talking, crying, hugging, or praying with a student. We are hoping to start an international students' Bible study at our home after the first of the year.
I really had a great time working on the yearbook committee. Miss B (Mrs. Z later when she got married) was a wonderful teacher and advisor. It was a pleasure working with her. Times around deadlines were crazy but we all survived. I enjoyed working with the other students too.
I am glad to be beyond the high school years. High school just isn't as real as life after high school. I became a Christian, got married, had children, and moved on. My whole life now revolves around my family, church, and school.

William Thomas Beck (W.T. to his family and frednis) died 19 September 2009. He was born 28 March 1958 and was 51 years young when he left us. He loved his family and the US Army (sometimes hard to tell which came first). He left behind his wife of almost 29 years, Cherie Lane Beck, and two daughters Rachael Michelle and Heather Nicole.Since his passing he has two beautiful grand-daughters, Emilienne Hope Beck almost 17 months, and Micayla Michelle Beck just seven weeks. They will know their grandpa from stories and memories that his family and frednis can tell them. I am counting on all of you to help make this possible. He is missed terribly and loved greatly!Cherie Lane Beck
